Buying Bitcoin weekly? Compare what reaches your cold wallet.
For A$100–A$500 weekly purchases, the buying method and withdrawal frequency can change the result. Compare CoinJar’s automatic card buys, its separate Exchange, and Independent Reserve’s funded recurring orders before choosing.

Choose the workflow first
The original buyer asked for an exchange for weekly purchases and cold storage. That historical post establishes a concrete task, not current search demand. Australia is our selected research market; the author’s residence is unknown.
If you want purchases charged to a card automatically, compare CoinJar Recurring Buy. If you prefer bank funding and scheduled orders from an available balance, compare Independent Reserve. If you are willing to place orders yourself, include CoinJar Exchange. Its lower published trading fee does not establish that the complete route is cheapest.
| Route | Purchase and funding | Cold-wallet cost |
|---|---|---|
| CoinJar Recurring Buy | Weekly card purchases list a 1% fee. This is separate from ordinary one-off card purchases. Check the quoted BTC amount and any card-issuer charges. | External crypto transfers have a dynamic fee. Get a fresh withdrawal quote; automatic buying does not establish automatic wallet delivery. |
| CoinJar Exchange, manual BTC/AUD order | The initial AUD trading tier lists 0.10% maker and taker fees. AUD bank deposits list no platform charge. A manual order is a different workflow from Recurring Buy. | Include external withdrawal costs. A limit order can remain unfilled; a market order depends on available liquidity. |
| Independent Reserve Recurring Buy | Standard trading starts at 0.50%; scheduled buys add no recurring-order surcharge. AUD bank funding is free; Australian card funding adds 1%. | The current schedule lists 0.0001 BTC per Bitcoin-network withdrawal. Recheck before sending; more frequent withdrawals multiply this cost. |

Independent Reserve runs scheduled orders while funds are available. Its documentation says an insufficient balance can result in a smaller purchase; a zero balance means no execution. Fund ahead of the schedule and inspect confirmations. A bank transfer arriving late is not a completed purchase.
Compare four purchases and the withdrawals together
Use the same total AUD budget and the same custody schedule for both providers. Record the actual BTC acquired after buying costs, then subtract every withdrawal fee. Divide total AUD spent by net BTC delivered. If the preview already includes a spread, do not add it again.
Illustration, not a live quote: four A$100 purchases produce A$4 of fees at 1%, A$2 at 0.50%, or A$0.40 at 0.10%, assuming each percentage applies to the A$100 order amount. Funding, execution-price differences and delivery are excluded, so these figures cannot pick a winner.
At Independent Reserve’s listed withdrawal rate, four separate sends cost 0.0004 BTC; one combined send costs 0.0001 BTC. The difference is 0.0003 BTC, before price changes. Waiting to combine sends leaves more BTC with the exchange for longer. Decide how much custody exposure you accept before optimizing the fee.
For CoinJar, compare the actual dynamic withdrawal quotes for those same schedules. Do not substitute the free internal transfer to another CoinJar user: your own cold-wallet address requires an external transaction.
Check delivery before committing to a schedule
- Complete the provider’s identity checks and confirm Australian funding access, limits and any withdrawal holds in your own account.
- Generate a native Bitcoin receiving address in your wallet and verify it on the wallet device where supported. Match Bitcoin to Bitcoin; a similar ticker on another network is not the same route.
- Read the final withdrawal preview. CoinJar documents a 0.0001 BTC minimum outgoing amount; a minimum amount and a withdrawal fee are different figures. Independent Reserve requires a verified withdrawal address.
- Consider a small first transfer above the minimum, allowing for its extra fee. Confirm receipt in your wallet before increasing the amount. Never share your recovery phrase with an exchange or support agent.
See CoinJar’s transfer instructions and Independent Reserve’s withdrawal guidance. Account approval, network timing and successful delivery have not been tested here.
If your existing exchange already meets these checks at a competitive total cost, staying can be reasonable. Compare a new service only when its funding method, repeat-purchase controls or net wallet delivery improves the task you actually need.
