Replace the workflow, not just the logo.
Tangem gives the clearest documented answer to the original alert complaint, but only for incoming transfers on a stated network list. Trezor gives stronger on-device verification and broader desktop control, while its public notification note does not define equivalent coverage. Check your phone, assets and migration method before buying either.
held assets→new wallet + verified address→small test, then migration
01 / The alert question
Tangem documents the boundary. Trezor leaves more to verify.
Phone-first
Tangem cards
Tangem documents real-time alerts for incoming transfers on Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Tron and a finite list of other networks. Outgoing transfers do not alert. Very small incoming transfers may not alert, and opening the app can restore delivery after long inactivity.
This is a direct fit when incoming alerts are the buying reason and every held network appears on that alert list. It is not a promise that every supported asset alerts: Tangem's full wallet network list is much broader than its notification list.
Trezor's February 2026 mobile release notes say transaction notifications were redesigned. That establishes a notification feature, but the page does not publish a matching network list or say that both directions alert. Treat alert coverage as an in-app check, not a reason to buy unseen.
Safe 3 adds a screen and buttons for checking transaction details on the device. It works fully over USB on Android and desktop. On iPhone it is view-only: Safe 3 cannot use iOS for setup, sending or device management.
Ordinary official links only; no affiliate tracking is active. We did not buy a device, connect a wallet, import a phrase or trigger a notification. A companion app can still show delayed data when its backend or a network indexer is behind.

Match five facts to your actual wallet.

Tangem
Trezor Safe 3
Incoming alerts
Documented only for the listed networks; incoming only, with small-transfer and inactivity caveats.
Mobile transaction notifications are documented, but comparable direction and network coverage were not found in the reviewed official note.
Phone connection
NFC card or ring with the Tangem mobile app; the hardware must be scanned to sign.
Full USB control on Android. Safe 3 is view-only on iOS; setup, sending and management need a supported desktop or Android connection.
Transaction check
No screen on the card; transaction details are presented in the phone app and signing requires a scan.
Address and transaction confirmation can be checked on the device's screen.
Backup shape
Two- and three-device packs; optional phrase import. Extra backup cards must be added during setup.
12-, 20- and 24-word backup support, with PIN/passphrase options and a written backup process.
Asset support
Check exact token, network and whether that network is also on the smaller alert list.
Check the exact model, network, Trezor Suite support and whether a third-party wallet is required.
A new device does not automatically mean new keys.
Inventory each token and network. A symbol such as USDT is not enough. Record the network, account type, passphrase use and whether the destination app supports the same path.
Prefer a fresh wallet when replacement is about security. Create and verify a new backup on the new device, then receive funds at new addresses. Importing the old Ledger phrase can reproduce the old keys and any earlier seed exposure.
Verify the receive address on hardware where available. Never trust a copied address until it matches the destination device or the vendor's documented verification flow.
Send a small supported test. Match the network at both ends, wait for confirmation and verify the balance in a block explorer as well as the companion app before moving the remainder.
Keep the old wallet until reconciliation is complete. Confirm every account, token, staking position and third-party wallet before wiping or retiring anything. Never enter a wallet backup into a website or support chat.
Research origin: a full public Ledger Live review reporting missing send/receive notifications, a balance that did not refresh, and an explicit recommendation to choose other hardware. The asset, phone and author country are not stated. Search demand and a ranking gap are unmeasured.
04 / Commercial status
Both offers pay for a sale, not for ongoing wallet use.
Trezor publishes up to 15% of eligible net order value excluding VAT and shipping, with a 30-day cookie after approval. Tangem says commission follows an attributed wallet purchase and delivery hold, but joining its referral program requires already owning a Tangem Wallet and the public page does not state a fixed rate. Neither is recurring subscription or trading revenue, and neither program is active on this page.
